OL 301: Learn How to Grow a Family Vegetable Garden

Fresh, nutritious vegetables for your family.

What? An 8-week, self-paced, hands-on vegetable growing course for you to get a garden up and running!

Learn by doing. This hands-on training course—for both  individuals and families—is for actually launching a vegetable garden: You will work developing a garden using hands-on exercises with a live instructor and learn how to grow nutritious, fresh vegetables. All you will need is a patio or a small garden plot.

If you’re not an experienced vegetable gardener YOU will learn how to plan, plant, and produce vegetables. You will learn about location, soil, nutrition, seeds, planting, harvesting and cooking with your produce. Your instructor will walk you through each step of the process.

Who should take this course?
This course is perfect for individuals and families who want to learn how to launch a vegetable garden with an experienced gardener.

8 Weeks: Launch a real vegetable garden.
Assignment timing is flexible.
Week 1. Choosing a space for your vegetable garden.
Week 2. Nutrition, planning and selecting seeds for a vegetable garden.
Free Week. If you need to, this is a good time to catch up.
Week 3. Finding organic amendments for your planting beds.
Week 4. Preparing your planting beds.
Week 5. Plant seeds and also seedlings in your new garden.
Free Week. If you need to, this is a good time to catch up.
Week 6. Learn how to gauge sun and water.
Week 7. Practice insect vigilance-organically.
Week 8. Planning and cooking nutritious meals using your vegetables.
